Job Hunting

With our recent move to Homebase, and no homework to occupy my time, it became time to search for work. This is a huge task. I started about two weeks ago applying at greenhouses because I knew I loved that kind of work and didn't really know what I wanted to do. Well, the first job offer I recieved was great except it required me to work on Sunday, so I turned it down. Then it was continued searching. Then on our way out of town to my cousins wedding I saw another greenhouse and made a mental note to visit when we got back in town. So, Monday morning arrived and I went to the greenhouse and walked in and said "I don't know if you are hiring for the season still, but I was wondering if I could apply." They replied well I think we have all we need, but turn your resume in anyway and so I did. Later that evening I received a call from the greenhouses wanting me to come in and talk to them. I did, and they offered me a position to do wholesale, accounting, and retail. I was so excited. I came home did a happy dance, jumped up and down, called my family, and then sang 'We are the Champions' Chicken Little Style. Now this is were it gets crazy so hold on.

Because I was so excited I want to tell my friend about it. I went over to her house and we were visiting, and she was really excited for me. Then her husband came home, he is Guapo's boss. My friend told her husband Adventure Girl has good news. So, I told him the news and he said "What, I was going to invite you in for an official interview." Stunned is the only word for what I felt right then. Then he left and went downstairs to see how Guapo and Chatty were doing on the equipment. After checking up on them, he came back up stairs and proceeded to make a job offer. It would be part time being a coordinator between production, and sales by assisting in answering customers non-technical questions. When I said I was stunned before well, by now I was almost speechless, good thing my friend asked good questions for me. He wanted an answer right away, but I told him I needed more time. As the day went on I pondered, and arrived at the conclusion that I could do both. So, I went and talked to Guapo's boss the next day about that option and he was just fine with it. Then I went home, and started what I thought was going to be the last day of my vacation. Well about 15 min before Guapo is supposed to get off work he calls and says "Boss wants you down here, I think he wants to offer you a full-time position."

Well, Guapo was right. When I arrived at the office Boss was waiting for me and directed me into the purchasing office. Once there he proceeded with his new offer. I would work full-time with my time being split between purchasing, and the previously offered position. So, now I had some real deciding to do. I asked the head-purchaser a lot of questions because I was skeptical of this sudden interest in me. Well, he explained and I proceeded to ponder over the the choice. Once again boss wanted an answer right a way, but I said no way I need to have sometime. That night was filled with thinking. As I was falling asleep I decided I would probably take Boss's job offer. The next morning I woke-up and thought some more, because I really wanted to make a good choice. Finally, I decided yes, I would take the offer.

Then came the hard part. I went to the greenhouse and told them what happened. They were really understanding and wished me the best of luck. (I wish them the best of luck they have a great business plan) Then I came home and did a few things and then I went to visit the Boss. When I arrived I told him I would work for him, tried to get more money or vacation, but he said no. Rats, but I kind of expected that. To sum it up, I will have my first offical day at the office on Monday. This should be an adventure.

The End and Once Upon an Adventure (Warning: Long Entry)

So the end has come, but luckily not for this blog. It is just the end of my tenure at college. Oh, it was a wonderful experience full of happiness, pain, work, play, and learning. It was needless to say AWESOME!! I love it, all of it even the hard parts. I learned so much about me and that my potential is endless. To put a great ending on the most spectacular adventure yet, college, I decided to attended my commencement and convocation. Convocation was on Friday night and it was pretty good, but the best part was when everyone came over to my clubhouse for pizza and visiting. It was really fun because so much family was there. My in laws were there, my parents and sisters, my grandparents, and my aunt, uncle, and a few cousins. It was a blast. After the party Guapo, my sisters, and I went and had a sleepover at our cousins house (my apartment is a little too small for all of us). It was so great we didn't get to bed until 1:00AM, oops.

It was all fun until we had to get up to attend commencement the following morning. Commencement was my favorite part of graduation because I got to talk to people I knew while I was waiting in line. Then the coolest thing happened as we were walking into the auditorium all the teachers lined the entrance and applauded us. It was so cool. It just makes you feel so accomplished and thing. It was great. Commencement speakers did a really good job, and over all it was just awesome.
Receiving my diploma at convocation.
So, this is were the end and the beginning start to overlap. Upon the end of commencement, all of my family retreated back to my apartment pausing, and detouring along the way for a couple of final photos. Once we arrived at my apartment it was time to get moving. We cleared everything out of the apartment. Loading up our huge budget truck.
Amazingly it only took about two hours to get everything all loaded up and ready to go. I was so afraid that the truck would be way too big for all of our stuff but it turns out if we lay everything in a single layer on the floor then we fill the truck up just right. After we finished loading up the truck and cleaning the apartment my parents took us out to dinner at Big Judd's. I will just say that is was a great 1 lb. burger and ice cream, and it was worth the wait. I would show pictures of our wonderful meal, but they are on Vanilla's camera, so ask her to see them. After dinner we piled in the cars and truck and left Rexburg forever. (Alright maybe not forever, but for a very long time) We drove to Getaway Spot and stayed until Sunday afternoon and then went to Green Acres till Monday.

Monday we started are trek to what I will refer to as Homebase. It is a long way to Homebase and I had to drive there all by myself following Guapo and the big truck. AHHHH. It was such a long drive. Since we didn't have an apartment to go to a lovely couple offered to let us stay with them until we could find a place. So here we are at Homebase, we have an apartment to move into on Saturday, and Guapo started his job and I am trying to run from boredom, but we will see. Sorry this was so long, but a lot has happened, but if you have read till here then, well you have caught up on the life of Adventure Girl.

Adventure Confections

So this semester I took one of the most temperature sensitive classes ever, called confections aka candy making. When the semester started I was pretty sure I was going to fail. I usually managed to make a couple of things wrong. I had to try butter mints (pillow mints) four times, and then fudge 3 times before I got them right. I also had to learn how to temper chocolate which is a pain because you only have about a 2 degree window in which to work. Needless to say I was lacking in skills, patience, and success at the beginning of this semester. I even told Guapo, my mom, and my teacher I was going to fail so I might as well not even graduate. Well, as the semester wore on I took some time outside class to work on the assignments and slowly, ever so slowly I began to get better. Now I have successfully made my mid-term, finished all of my competinces, and finished my edible themed box. Basically I finished confections all I have left is to pass the written exam.

I learned a lot this semester and though it was difficult and my projects still aren't perfect, I think that my project turned out pretty well. I would have to say Adventure Confections--Successful.

Adventure Tradition Blending

Usually Guapo and I head out of the Frozen Tundra any chance we get and go to our get away place, but because of the Grand adventure of moving we decided we should stay in town this weekend for General Conference. Well, with staying in town it meant that we had to decided what we were going to do about this special weekend. My traditions for that weekend are watch as many sessions of conference as possible, have a girls party, and work outside between sessions. Guapo's traditions are a little bit different, so started the adventure of how we were going to combine our two upbringings. We kept the tradition of watching all the sessions, but on Saturday afternoon instead of sitting and watching we worked on packing up our food, which allowed us to break the horrible tradition of falling asleep during that session. Then Guapo was kind enough to let me keep my girl's party tradition. That had a twist because usually I only do it with family, but this time I had my old roommate, and another friend come over to my house where we had homemade pizza. Then we went over to my friend Vampire's house where we did girl things like homemade alvacodo face masks, and a chick-flick. It was AWESOME!! Then today we are do Guapo things like watching conference and his favorite tradition--Monkey Bread. It looks amazing, and our two traditions have molded together into a wonderful weekend of happiness. So, until next this is Adventure Girl making a big deal out of something so small.
